At Norris & Company Real Estate, a commitment to giving back to the community features strongly in our company values. On Saturday, October 3rd, fashion and wine met at the Bent Pine Golf & Country Club! Norris & Company was proud to be a sponsor of the Wine Women & Shoes event benefiting the Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County. The event was an overwhelming success when 140 women toasted their support for the organization, raising over $30,000 to fund its shelter and programs.
The evening was filled with glamour, fun and celebration as attendees enjoyed wine, fine food, live and silent auctions and a fashion show for a few fabulous hours of fundraising, socializing and shopping. Highlighting the evening, were twenty-four prominent Indian River County men – “Shoemelliers” a.k.a. Shoe Guys who graciously donated their time and charm to the stylish event. Staff members from the shelter brought some adorable puppies to the event hoping to find their new adoptive parents.
Proceeds raised from the event will help fund humane care and shelter for homeless animals, adoptions, spaying and neutering services, animal education advocacy and other programs. Norris & Company has maintained a history of leadership and involvement in the community by supporting the Humane Society of Vero Beach & Indian River County among other organizations financially and through volunteer efforts reflecting their... - Water (1 gallon per person/pet per day, plan for 3 days)
- Medications (2 week supply)
- First Aid Kit
- Battery Operated Radio
- Flashlight / Lantern
- Non-perishable food
- Coolers for Food and Ice
- Propane for Gas Grills
- Fill Vehicle Gas Tanks & Cans
- If you have a Generator, check it to make sure it is in working order before a storm approaches.
- Pet Supplies (food, meds)
Have a plan in place with family members as to where you will go in the event you are ordered to evacuate for a storm. This is particularly important since cellular communication immediately after a hurricane is limited to first responders/emergency services and landlines are often not working in the affected areas. If you plan to evacuate to a shelter and have pets or special needs, be sure to make these arrangements well ahead of time as shelters for these services may have limited capacity.
Get cash ahead of time. ATM’s will likely be down as power may be out for days and/or businesses closed. Credit/Debit cards won’t work for the same reasons.
For insurance purposes, take interior... Read More
